About

A small studio with its name on the door

Limestone Studio is an independent web design practice in Kingston, Ontario, run by Alex Lin, an engineering student at Queen’s University. The studio is small on purpose: you talk to the person who does the work.

The studio started with a habit: reading local business websites the way a customer does.

A phone number you can’t tap

None of it is the owner’s fault; they’re running a business, not a website. But it costs customers every day, and it’s fixable. That became the work: sites that are accurate, readable on a phone, and honest about what they are, in English or Chinese, because Kingston speaks both.

You own everything

Domain, files, project assets. If we part ways, everything transfers to accounts you control, with no fee.

Labels tell the truth

Concept imagery is labelled as concept imagery. Demos are labelled as demos. If a photo isn’t yours or ours, we say where it came from — on our own site and on yours.

Prices before work

Fixed plan prices are published. Anything beyond scope is quoted in writing, in advance, at $85/hour. You will never see a number that wasn’t quoted first.

Both languages, first-class

English and Chinese versions get the same design attention and the same search setup. Neither is a bolted-on translation.
